The Celery Ball will be a night of food and fun. We will be dancing through the years with live music performed by “Then 2 Now”, have samplings of culinary delights prepared by local restaurants and we will even get a “taste of Celery Soup” performed by community performers. A Celery King and Queen will be selected and we hope to generate the funding for our first Celery Soup performance. You won’t want to miss this exciting event!

Taking oral histories of Sanford residents, Celery Soup will be a community performance developed about the history, life and times of our region. The actors will be volunteers and community members. The play will change frequently in order to bring visitors and residents back again and again to downtown Sanford. Who is We are a 501C3 organization with the mission of:
preserving our oral histories and enhancing our community
pride while strengthening our local economy and leading Sanford’s renaissance How will we do this? We are using an existing, 15 year old model, “Swamp Gravy”, from Colquitt, Ga. This performance has infused over a million dollars annually into this rural town and has been designated “Georgia’s Official Folk Life Play”. The performance and its derivatives have grown to underwrite the purchase and renovation of a cotton warehouse for their theatre, renovate an old hotel for great meals and lodging, purchase and renovate a city block for co-op shops and employs over 40 people in the process We need your HELP!!! To make this project financially viable, the non profit organization, Creative Sanford, Inc., is putting on a fundraiser.
